Burnout Paradise Review
Burnout Paradise is an impressive racing game even after many hours of playing it. Everything a racer wants is in it: slow motion crashes, high-speed races, and a variety of event types as well. This is a new breed of racing game. One that you must own.
Everything about this game is nearly perfect. I encountered rare frame rate drops, but that is about it. There are plenty of cars to choose from and you will unlock them as you progress. The game has a pretty large map, and it lets you explore it freely. When you want to start an event, simply stop at a event point and start it. When the event begins you might need to use your map to find the perfect route to reach your destination.
There are many different types of events to choose from:
- Stunt Run, where players try to rack up as much points as possible by doing different stunts such as barrel rolls or earning air time.
- Race, where players race computer players from a starting line to a finish line. Players choose the best route to get to the destination faster.
- Marked Man, where players attempt to reach a given destination while computer-controlled cars try to make them crash.
- Road Rage, where players try to crash as many cars on the road without crashing themselves. Probably my favorite event!
Cars and events aren’t all the game has to offer. There are many shortcuts and small secret tracks that encourage you to explore the map and its different districts. This is something that many other racing games do NOT have. Developers of the racing genre need to take notes on Burnout Paradise’s style.
Overall this game has little to no flaws. I give this game an excellent 9/10! No other game in this genre has given me such excitement or awe of exploration. Every time I play this game, I experience something new. This game definitely deserves our Knockout Medal!
