Turkey’s Family and Social Policies Ministry is calling for a total ban on the game, Minecraft. Why? They say it’s too violent.
The ministry admits the game can influence creative development in children; however, a report from theĀ Children Services General Directorate said that, “the game is based on violence.” They fear children will start torturing animals or become isolated from reality because of the content in this game.
Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, responded saying, “If people find this level of fantasy conflict upsetting, we would encourage them to play in Creative Mode, or to enable the Peaceful setting.”
Oddly enough, Turkey isn’t known for banning many video games. They let Grand Theft Auto V off the hook and many violent first person shooters as well. The ministry explains that Minecraft, a child-focused game in their eyes, should not be allowed into the hands of their younger generations.
